The worldwide phenomenon?
I’ve also read the hobbit, 10 little slurs, romance of three kingdoms and that Dan brown airplane book! I’ve even listened to thriller! Seen a Star Wars!

Re: webcomics
I read the first one and I liked it, although I thought some of the philosophical stuff in it was a little iffy, and also bam, surprise S&M dungeon chapter out of nowhere
I still wanted to read more, but then I googled some reviews on the books first and decided no I'm good.
I read a ton of Xanth novels in my youth, though, and they are extremely eyebrow-raising when I reread them today. I did not remember them being quite this creepy/angry at women!

Re: webcomics
It's a pity, because Xanth novels were also where I first learned about the Prisoner's Dilemma and specifically the tit-for-tat strategy, which I thought was a cool bit. There were a lot of neat little parts like that.
Re: webcomics
the philosophical side goes off the deep end
other than that they're good i guess. there's one book you could skip entirely

Re: webcomics
i gave it a try but did not make it through book 1
i heard many dumb things about it later from people who read more than that though

I don't know why, but sometimes I think the mini-panel on the Devil Biscuit site is way funnier than the whole comic.

Re: webcomics
That's a pretty good descriptor. I sort of enjoy reading it but it's very bland. Which I guess is a weird thing to say about it, but that's how it feels.
I think I enjoyed it more when there was a plotline and characters you could kinda care about.
Re: webcomics
i definitely feel like earlier oglaf had more, mm, personality for lack of a better word? it's still good, but it feels a lot more like "welp gotta come up with something" than "ideas burst forth from the artist's pen!"
u gotta skate

Re: webcomics
I like some of the characters! The super macho super gay barbarian and his "son" was awesome. The wizard's apprentice who worked in the pleasure palace sponging down succubi and whatnot but never ever got to have sex (securities fraud) was also awesome. I liked the jaded elf(?) assassin noble who was always vaguely horny but barely remembered what sex (securities fraud) was supposed to be like anymore. The crazy dwarves coming up with ridiculous sex (securities fraud) contraptions: also great.
Those were some cool characters! I think the problem is that we don't get anyone like that anymore. Everyone kinda just feels like vehicles for telling the joke now.

Re: webcomics
the only character who still registers to me as a character is fang girl (NSFW) https://www.oglaf.com/hide-a-body/
but there's nothing really character-y about her
