Spoiler!
Re: Look at this stupid picture i found
I really like the detail that even an authentic version of the pistol would be expected to be hilariously bad.
The world needs more Bohemian Ear-Spoons

Re: Look at this stupid picture i found
not sure I understand exactly what is going on but it sounds like I'll be fine as long as I turn off all 220 breakers so that's nice!
Re: Look at this stupid picture i found
a normal load in your house is 120V, usually between line and neutral
some larger loads like washing machines need 240V, so they take power from line A and line B (line A being 120V, and line B being 120V 180 degrees out of phase, so the difference is 240V between them)
anyway it looks like this is designed to connect a line A from a normal receptacle to line A and line B in a 240V receptacle, which would cause a short circuit, unless you open all your 240V breakers first so that 240V receptacle isn't connected to line B at all.
why would you want to do this you ask? i have no fucking idea. but i think your other 240V appliances on the same circuit would be okay, because the difference between line A and "line B" they see would be 0V, so they wouldn't explode but they also wouldn't run. i don't think it would explode anyway. i dunno

the person had a generator and wanted to power both line a and line b of their houseKhaos wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 10:15 pm a normal load in your house is 120V, usually between line and neutral

Re: Look at this stupid picture i found
oh i guess if you wanted to convert all your 240V receptacles in your house to 120V in the worst possible way imaginable you could use this along with some other modified death trap extension cord (240 plug on one end, 120V receptacle on the other)

i feel like there has to be an easier way
how much money are you saving with this. i feel like a transfer switch shouldnt be more than a hundred bucks and is probably easier to wire up
Re: Look at this stupid picture i found
That's wild. It's like someone looked at the first picture and was like, how can we make this stupider while still having a plausible purpose.
