This is neat. It's probably undercosted but might be printable in a straight-to-Legacy set. You basically have to cost at 3 if you want it to hit Commander because in that format you can just run Control Magic at 4.

i was going to cost it at 4 because being strictly worse than control magic is fine, but then i figured since it's just a bad pacifism in 1v1 formats it can be undercosted otherwise and still be fine

I think it's enough better than "bad pacifism" in 1v1 that you couldn't print it in Standard, but yeah.

When Spacegodzilla attacks, it deals 7 damage to target creature defending player controls. Defending player divides all creatures without flying they control into left and right piles. Then, for each attacking creature you control, choose left or right. That creature can't be blocked this combat except by creatures with flying and creatures in a pile with the chosen label. Defending player may move creatures they control from one pile to another. If they do, Spacegodzilla deals 5 damage to each of those creatures.

I was thinking generally and not specifically this Standard - I don't know what's getting played. I assume a lot of planeswalkers are still running around and as printed it's good vs. walkers because you can still attack them with the creature. Let's see, what else?

Alseid of Life's Bounty - they can't topdeck it and remove your aura the way they could with a pacifism, and if they tap out you can steal the alseid

In this particular standard you could also bounce your 3-mana control magic with Teferi and replay it on their better threat, which would be super annoying

Modern versions of the "can't attack you" effect tend to specify "you or planeswalkers you control" because "can't attack you" doesn't prevent attacking your walkers. See Archangel of Tithes, Forbidding Spirit, or the card your control magic reminded me of most, Spectral Grasp.

yes, i believe so

im not super familar with the comp rules but i think turns are either labelled as extra or not

WotC used to make lots of cards like this, but they don't anymore. It's a pity, I like cards that don't self-synergize, I think they make for more interesting gameplay.
