you guys start like 20-45 minutes (depending on kid) before my kids' bedtimes, and my wife and i split duties every night, so i have to ask her to do me a favor and put both of them down, which she is perfectly happy doing, but which i am somewhat reticent to do. im pretty much always down to do that, though, if i know we are playing terraforming mars (which seems to be an unpopular choice, or at least one which people are unwilling to commit to in advance [which is fine]).
with love, your good friend, seathesee

we usually meet at 7pm MT. sometimes people show up later when we play among us

we haven't used TTS, although I have it and would be down for it if other people have it.

thus far we've played terraforming mars and scythe on steam. and i think there's a free way to play coup we played. i'd be down to play other games if anyone has suggestions too

i'd be down to play coup or other shorter games for a little bit until you come

i am a less than good husband because my wife just puts the kids to bed on saturday so i can play video games. but she also goes out more than me in general, so it all works out i guess

Yeah, I'm alright with dropping the game - the mechanics never really came together enjoyably for me. I'd keep playing too! But no one seems very excited for that, so. Thanks for running, Doug!

yw

I think a lot of it has to do with it being co-op

When you have opponents, you're motivated to come back to defeat them, or you owe them the chance to defeat you. When everyone is a teammate, it becomes kinda "Yeah I guess" mentally
It's your turn in Cthulhu Wars
It's your turn in Squirrel Wars
It's your turn in Demon Wars
It's your turn in Wall Street Wars

Which is a shame, because I think I like co-op games the best. Or at least, I'm often clamoring for them at game nights. Alas!

co-op games are fun in person, so long as you don't have some asshole telling everyone what they should do

just let them play terribly, this isn't life and death you fuck

That's why co-op games should have secret information. Everyone should have their own cards or whatever. Gloomhaven is great because it doesn't matter how much of an asshole I am, I can't dictate my teammate's turn for him, because I can't see his action cards and he's not allowed to tell me.

I suppose you could also play with non-assholes but I like the game design solution better.
