Here is a pamphlet from your broker:
Spoiler!
Note: Yields are paid as though the instrument were still worth $100
1-Year Treasury Note - Yield 5 percent
An AAA bond with a good yield. This investment represents extreme security and good income, but, of course, no appreciation.
(Doug's note to new players: This bond cannot change in value, ever. Since it has a 5 percent yield, this means that all "loose money" that you would have sitting around should be in this bond, not considering the transaction charge.)
Amazon - Yield 1 percent
A well-established company with a phenomenal growth record. It is a expanding industry, spends a lot of money on research, and is expected to continue its growth pattern. The Company's policy of reinvesting earnings causes low yield. The price-to-earnings ratio of this stock is extremely high.
WeWork - No yield
An investment representing good prospects of high appreciation. No dividends are expected in the immediate future. However, the City's proposed Urban Renewal Program could have great effect on earnings.
SPY S&P 500 ETF - Yield 4 percent
A common stock income mutual fund offered by a large mutual fund company. It has a good yield of 4 percent. Stock in this fund represents a good, steady income, but only a fair appreciation investment.
Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities - Yield 7 percent
A real estate investment representing extremely high income, but steadily depreciating capital assets.
Retrophin Pharmaceuticals - No yield
A stock representing extremely speculative investment. Profits go toward … drug research, so no dividends are expected. This stock could be worth rags or riches.
Tesla - No yield
A stock representing a high appreciation investment prospect with a good, stable outlook depending on the administrative ability and ambition of its respected, ethical, and energetic young president. As all profits go back into the Company, dividends are not expected to be declared in the foreseeable future.
Intel - Yield 2 percent
A medium large company in the large, oligopolistic … computer chip industry. Intel, like others in the industry, is subject to whims of public fancy. Stock in this company represents a somewhat speculative investment with a good growth pattern. Because it is popular with the investing public, it has a fairly high price-to-earnings ratio and low yield.
Bitcoin Mining - Yield 6 percent
A highly speculative, high-income stock ideal for the short- or medium-term investor. Its long-term prospects are fair to poor.
Pacific Power & Light - Yield 3 percent
A stable, steadily growing public utility company located in a well-established, healthy industrial area. Stock in this company represents a safe, medium-yield, medium-growth investment.
Once Khaos makes a new spreadsheet (Please ), you will be able to buy shares/bonds. There is a $10 transaction fee for all purchases (no matter the size). I will not check your math, so please don't cheat. The market closes when everyone indicates!

Well, table talk, I think Bernie Madoff isn't good unless the yield is massive compared with the share cost i.e. a 7 percent yield when shares are 100 is a 7 percent gain, but a 7 percent yield when shares are 60 is an 11 2/3 percent gain

I am also posting in this thread, to get $5000. I will however cede control of my affairs to drk, because I'm probably not logging back into this account without a good dumb reason, we're at the punchline already.

I plan to submit again for this one, but I might not get to it until tomorrow (not at a proper computer at the moment). So, uh, don’t start without me
I've submitted, and updated my name (from ein? to ein)

Nah, on reflection I'm happy with it being a bot. If I make any decisions I want to credit it them to myself and my wisdom (if they roll well) or dismiss it as variance otherwise. But under drk's own name.
