I would want to try Igneous Cur in this deck. Give it a Pridemalkin counter and that threatens a lot of damage pretty quickly, and it's actually a good use of the green shrine's mana. I think you can lose one Dreadmaw and at least one Surge. Not a huge fan of Fungal Rebirth here, but I haven't gotten to draft that a lot so maybe it's better than it looks in this deck. With two Hunter's Edge I would very play the Dilophosaurus.
these are good points. i'll look at it more closely but i worry about the dilophosaur ever getting triggered which makes me feel like its not worth it. the synergy with hunters edge doesnt really matter much i dont think
Invigorating Surge on any of your creatures gets you to four power, including on itself. Attacking as a 6/6 deathtoucher is pretty good too, and if you have a Pridemalkin for trample hoo boy!
I'm not sure I overvalue the Hunter's Edge combo. Even at uncommon there are a lot of big targets that need to die once your opponent gets to both 6 and 7 mana and toughness.

is the new non-shitty magic online thing ("arena" ?) f2p?
Sort of? You earn currency by playing, so you can definitely play for free if you're patient. You just won't be able to play as often as you'd like (if you like to draft), or build your collection as fast as you'd like (if you play constructed).
I started full FTP and played and enjoyed myself a bunch before deciding that I was okay with putting some cash in.

I played full FTP for a while and it was fun but eventually I got annoyed by the fact that the game really wants you to play it *regularly* and gave it up entirely

I'm full FTP and I have basically a full deck worth of wildcards that I'm never going to use because lol standard. I do like how you can go infinite drafting pretty easily as long as you don't want to play back to back drafts on a single day (which I don't have time for anyway).

finally got daybreak charger.dec to work out. 6-2 in games with this one.
my last match was against someone named "HerculesNoMulligan" who taunted me with "good game" after i mulliganed game 1, and "oops" after i mulliganed game 2, then they mulliganed to 5 in the last game giving me supreme moral and karmic victory.

note to self: do not save the deck and screenshot it afterwards.
i will take a screenshot with the sideboard showing if there is enough of a demand.

now that i have enough gems as a cushion i can just ignore quests entirely. which is super nice
when i was starting i would grind standard for gold which was definately bleh when i could not play my favorite deck because it wasnt red/black or whatever

here is a 6 win deck with a sideboard:
gale swooper has really been climbing my internal rankings--the body is great, and the ability can eek out a game in decline or close it out a turn earlier. anointed chorister has gone up from experience, from a "slightly better one drop than suntail hawk" to almost an auto-include. tolarian kraken is a nice body, but the ability seems to take too much to break a game open--downranked.

I think I like Sure Strike more than Titanic Growth. It's a lot better getting your smaller creatures to just eat a Garruk's Gorehorn or a Colossal Dreadmaw, instead of trading even after pump.
i think its really close, and im still sort of undecided. titanic growth does have bigger numbers and the ability to cancel out a damage removal spell or an opposing pump spell going for it. i am kind of a sucker for bigger numbers.

i feel like this has a lot of potential, but my build is wrong:
is 16 creatures too much for kaervek?
edit: 6-1 with this. kept it built this way. kaervek was fine, not great.

Ashenai wrote:There is no difference between building a BO3 deck and a BO1 deck (except during the picks, because you obviously won't pick sideboard cards if you're gonna be playing BO1). But for a given pool, the best deck for a BO1 is also the best deck for the first game in a BO3.
This isn't true because BO1 has hand smoothing, so you can probably get away with shaving a land and your opponents are a little more likely to have a mix of lands and spells in their 7 and be able to curve out.

whoever said 3 invigorating surges was too many
you're probably right. i cut one and i still have a 15/14 hobblefiend
edit: 3-0'd. ended up cutting a dreadmaw, surge, pridemalkin, and trufflesnout for one igneous cur

Thank you all for your suggestions. I cut the angel summoner, but kept the Mangara splash since I don't actually have any need for more than 7 blue sources. I sideboarded in card draw basically every game. The deck absolutely needed it. I went 2-1 and didn't have mana problems once. Was that because my build was right, or just because I was lucky? Who's to say~

It's probably correct to. 10 sources is my minimum for grasp, but 11-12 is nice to have. Mangara dominated an otherwise unwinnable game and I never got colour-screwed so I certainly got good results from this build, but I'd probably do it differently if I went in again.
I feel like my real lesson is to make slightly different decisions in the drafting phase lol. I don't remember the exact card I got in exchange for it, but passing a Waker of Waves during this draft was not even remotely reasonable to do
