I find it confusing saying that these cards are "banned." "Banned" usually means from a specific format, not "in all formats." For these cards, I think we should use a different word, like "canceled"
Well what about ante cards and dexterity cards
Those aren't banned in 5-Color
Well okay but that's not a sanctioned format, right?
I guess you could say they've been both banned and cancelled
Oh yeah and there's the image thing too
wow, [you]. that all sounds terrible. i hope it gets better for you

remember when they almost printed that card that did 3 damage to a creature, or 3 damage to a player, and you could pay to do both?
you've lost me

Wizards of the Coast promised in 1994 not to reprint Stone-Throwing Devils because it was offensive to someone. My memory is that it was Palestinians because that was a phrase they were being called a lot, but I can't find the announcement. It certainly predates the website and it looks like it predates the creation of the rec.arts.games.trading-cards.* hierarchy. It's probably in a Duelist, but meh.
Anyway, what I wanted to say is that Stone-Throwing Devils was actually noted as offensive when it came out, so it being on the new list is probably a result of somebody remembering that the way I do.

Here's Mark Rosewater in 2014 with about the same memory as me:
talinthas asked: Any chance of seeing the Arabian Nights card "Stone Throwing Devils" reprinted?
Very little as the title is a slur. We were unaware of the fact when we named the card.

what colors should this be so it isn't racist
i always thought it was weird that cards like terror and stuff didn't let you kill a black creature, but now i understand that this is because killing a black creature is racist

It's not weird. The evil creatures and robots just aren't intimidated by scary black spells like everyone else is.

That's a cool bit of backstory. Thanks Monty

Second deck. Synergy didn't come all the way together on this one, but we certainly have some cards in here. I like that the legendary sorceries actually function here.
Currently 1-0, will report back.

You can tell Ethereal Absolution won me some games in my last draft since you can see me splashing it in this one, for no reason

it reminds me of D&D, where undead creatures had a bunch of random immunities to everything

The RB deck went 4-3. This deck went 7-2!
I keep on ending up with Blast Zone in my deck

Become red.
Sigiled Sword/Chandra/Heartfire all feel playable. An interesting build. I didn't get enough duals to splash B, even though Judith and Dreadhorde Invasion are really good here.
There's also an argument for cutting Embereth Shieldbreaker and just playing good cards instead of bad ones.

Someone (Rooser?) said mono R was bad in this cube, you don't have the manlands or the really cheap spells to make it tick.

it's really hard to get enough 1-drops and 2-drops, that's for sure
i don't think monored is unviable, but it has problems and I'd probably only be looking to move in when it's really open and I get the good payoffs early

well on the final turn i played other things and then lost. i had to fight to kill their jace and then they just oracled me out
(the card i played earlier was folio)
i also had 1 card in my deck left, since they were milling me out with that 5 mana bolas enchantment and ashiok

Still Alive wrote:prophecy was kind of eh. i mean it had the woes and the nine mana cards were neat for casual players and that i can actually remember this stuff might make the set pretty cool but i remember being very disappointed buying packs
anyway, the ryhstic stuff was actually p cool, for multiplayer, i guess, like, you'd probably just get blown out of the water if you tried to use that in a one on one.
kid-me bought a lot of prophecy. i really liked it, but i think a lot of that was aesthetics. plus probably i didn't understand how bad the cards were. but now i bet i have a lot of Rhystic Studies, which the internet says are worth 26.39 on paper (wow), although I'm sure mine are in poor condition
u gotta skate

people were talking about it on GG; they said it's because it's very good in multiplayer (which makes sense)
