What am I Kickstarting? And other crowdfunds

Probably what *this* should be called.

Pandemic has no consequences to players individually, though. You can't die or anything. In a co-op game where players can die, you get a little less automatic cooperation with the quarterback

So quarterbacking is when one player starts calling all the shots. What do you call it when one player asks the table for help in maximizing whatever thing they're doing? They're still sort of directing the other players but only the ones that can help them do their thing. Or when someone has a bonus to hand out, they will always ask for it, even if they're already doing good.

It's going to be fun in 8-Bit Attack when we start off giving all the XP to one player so as to buff his defense; and then he's all happy and bouncing up and down in his chair; and then we say, OK now always assign the biggest monster to him

Although it is a co-op game with no traitor, and those are susceptible to quarterbacking
My favorite co-op games all have secret information (hand of cards, usually) and incentivize or enforce keeping it secret, for this reason.

Is it that sub-optimal play is now suspect? Like now when, for example, [you] is playing sub-optimally from my perspective, it's my in-game job to work out of it's deliberate or not. We're all supposed to be in sync on optimal play, and we work out if there is a traitor by detecting deviance

I guess also the ego-stakes are higher. It's not just we might lose because [you] didn't play great; now we might lose to another human if [you] plays badly, and it might even be [you]
wow, [you]. that all sounds terrible. i hope it gets better for you

yeah in pandemic or w/e as long as im playing with reasonably competent players i can just lean back in my chair and say 'eh figure it out'. In a traitor game it's important to work out the best plays for each player, and if they do something else because of an oversight or hidden information, talk about it until there's some agreement on what the correct play is. (and this includes exposure to a traitor; if there's a play that is dangerous if the player is traitor and a slightly less good play that is safe, 'encouraging' people to make the safer play is part of the game)

Root has arrived! This is a COIN game about little woodland creatures.

It's not made by GMT so I don't mean that it's literally part of the COIN series. But it is about an insurgency of mice in a forest of rabbits and foxes otherwise being fought over by cats and birds

I also got the Torg: Eternity Aysle boxed set, which had a torn box, and the Fantasy Trip Decks of Destiny, which did not have a torn anything. Aysle had the same problem as Western Empires -- the box just has too much stuff in it for that grade or level or whatever of cardboard

And I've just received the Planet Apocalypse stuff. The figures are really nuts. And way bigger than I thought they'd be. I thought the Hellhound for example would be about the size of a Leng spider, but holy cow it's like Rhan-Tegoth in size.

This would be another interesting game on the message board, because it's totally co-op and has no hidden information. So even the mod could play
