i've always found that one very counterintuitive, because 's is possessive, right? "that piano is my dad's". so then i think, well each bird has it's laser gun - the laser gun belongs to it -> it's. but that is not the way that it works

earlier today i saw a squirrel jump from one tree to another
and it made me wonder, do squirrels ever mess up and fall?
you would think it has to happen sometimes, but i've never seen it happen (which isn't really surprising)
if a squirrel falls from a tree how badly is it going to be hurt?

Makes me want to take the sound from a blaster fight in Star wars and put it to a video of songbirds singing

contrary to popular belief, unix time didn't start on the first second of jan 1, 1970. it started on the last second of dec 31, 1969, but it was a leap second

I had to double check to make sure that wasn't true when you posted it in discord (it's not, the first two leap seconds of the unix era were in 1972)

It occurs to me that Ice Cube - Today Was a Good Day is not quite 100% lyrics listing the ways in which it was a good day, in fact there is one bad thing that occurs, and it's extremely non-badass compared to the picture of his life painted by the rest of the song.

"Had to stop at a red light"

He absolutely did not have to stop at the red light. What a pussy. You can see in the video that not only is there "not a jacker in sight", there is NOBODY in sight. He could freely breeze through it, but it didn't even occur to him because he's a rule following goodie two-shoes

the thing i'm interested in is remote controlling mechanical bodies with your mind; then i could play basketball against people with us having the same bodies (as opposed to real life where most people who play basketball are taller/longer than me)
