I wanted to be able to watch my kid's play area in the kitchen from the dining room, which is on the other side of a wall. Obviously I could set up a baby monitor camera, but that's boring and expensive and also I kind of always wanted to live in Gillette Castle so I mounted a strategically placed mirror. This sort of worked! Except the image was pretty small, you kind of had to squint to see details. That's when I remembered I own opera glasses. So now we've got two pieces of optics involved to see the baby one room over.

I guess this is more of a silly action.

social distancing from your 3mo (6mo? time means nothing to me now) might be taking it a bit far

I'm imagining that your baby is holding two cymbals, and you're anxiously watching with your opera glasses, because if the baby crashes the two cymbals together, the prime minister will be assassinated

I've never put a case on a phone before, which drives my wife mad. So when I got my new phone yesterday complete with a case, she looked at me like who are you and what have you done with my husband, and kinda smug that I'd finally realized she's right

I then had to explain that I chose to get a case because I care a lot less about this phone than the previous ones and expect to use it less. I'm still right that cases are bad, I deliberately bought a worse phone than my previous one and made a worse choice about whether to put a case on it because I'm trying to use it less

i am also a no-caser. what's the point of having razor thin phones if you're just gonna bulk it up

I do use a case but I rarely drop my phone and one of the few times I did it got a mark on the screen anyway. Also they trap dust and stuff. Probably overrated.

as a person who's like crazy about smudges fingerprints and wanting things to be clean. my 620 at least had like a little protective screen cover thing and then i just fucked it after that and was very surprised, pleased, with how you really don't sort of need that shit for phones. i guess because they have an actual piece of glass over the thing?

i mean, i totally agree that the form, and to a much lesser degree function, of a smartphone is limited by a protective case, but these things are over $500 now (well over in some instances) and they arent giving out freebies for renewing contracts anymore so...

what happens to the zombies after they've eaten or zombified everyone though

did they need the brains to survive or was that just for fun

I'm enjoying mentally inserting "thanks for coming to my ted talk" into my daughter's dialog

it's not safe to go on your phone while you drive but if you were a chameleon you could because you could have one eye (I) look at the road while the other one looks at your phone. thank you for coming to my ted talk

some kind of rumplestiltskin-like villain but instead of tricking him into saying his name backwards you have to wrap him in foil to banish him
