Charho-oh Virus Thread
For old timey review
Charho-oh Virus Thread
I thought we could use a single spot to organise ourselves against this scourge racing across the land.
Post your End Times Panic anecdote here, for posterity, we can come back in twenty years when the internet is re-established & reminisce.
In case you missed it, They finally zeroed in on the source - apparently a Charizard & a Ho-oh were fucking around, & well, now we're all wrestling to acquire as much TP & rice as possible because leveling to 34 is such a slog even in a good economic climate.
I went shopping today just to watch the panic shopping escalating. Bought a case of Corona, & a pack of disposable gloves (I take public transport to work). When I went out dancing this weekend, I had a great response from the people I interacted with when I declined to shake hands & telling them to Live Long & Prosper instead, really looking forward to the side-eye (I) when I rock up to work in latex gloves or whatever these are

Bring on the kung-fu amputees - no arms vs. no legs anyone? A bit of high-speed underground ninja-tunneling is always good as well. I wanna see some shit like that. Crazy monks with gnarly special powers can make any film good. FACT.
Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
the thing that i find most confusing is, since there aren't really tests (unless you are rich and/or famous I guess?), it feels like when i'm walking around either zomg it's everywhere on most surfaces or really it's only in a few places near me that it's even a thing, and i have no idea which one it is
u gotta skate
Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
I went home to my folks, feels like it's a time to be with family and spread the virus to them, plus small town livin' is probably going to be safer than the big city. I think I'll stick it out here for at least a month or two, depending. My mom is a badass cook.
When setting up my PC, I was a little amused that my phone wifi is 30 times faster than my parents' home internet connection. Maybe spring for a package that's not from 18 years ago, guys.

Went to make fun of my dad for vacuuming underneath the paintings and was immediately pressed into service sweeping the ceiling and chopping wood. So this is how it's gonna be
Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
It was! My hands are sore now though.
Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
Toilet paper is at a premium, smart money says use your charizards instead.
Pour like Hemingway's last call.
Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
An excellent suggestion - should be good for at least a month with these binders leftover from my WotC days!

Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
i havent done anything and other than the shop being low on TP nothing much seems to have changed in sydney
i dont really go outside much, which has so far saved me from needing to figure out what a proportionate response to anything is
whenever i cough i quietly wonder if its the thing, but my health hasn't done anything alarming yet

I know you're a d00msday prepper anyway, J-boss, but get a few more cans of beans just to be sure.
I hear smelly candles is going to be the next big thing, so maybe make some moves there too.

I feel like the number of public figures who have gotten it is indicative of the testing thing, and that it's way more widespread than any confirmed cases numbers might suggest. And then on the other hand I've been told by my friend who has been facilitating tests all week that lack of test availability is just plain falseCrunchums wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2020 7:36 am the thing that i find most confusing is, since there aren't really tests (unless you are rich and/or famous I guess?), it feels like when i'm walking around either zomg it's everywhere on most surfaces or really it's only in a few places near me that it's even a thing, and i have no idea which one it is

Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
my sister came back from california and had some cough so she self quarantined. her test came back negative, but now she has pnumonia so they're giving her another test and shes back in quarantine. she thinks its just "regular pnumonia" though.
my son has an eye (I) and ear infection so hes not going to day care or preschool this week. my sister demanded he get tested anyway so apparently a nurse is coming to swab him in the next few days :/

Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
note that my son hasnt been in contact with her since she came back so honestly im more worried about the nurse being hazardous than anything elseKhaos wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2020 3:09 pm my sister came back from california and had some cough so she self quarantined. her test came back negative, but now she has pnumonia so they're giving her another test and shes back in quarantine. she thinks its just "regular pnumonia" though.

she said its important for alberta health services to track any possible sources though so whatever i guess.
my wife will take some days off cause obviously we dont want my mom babysitting till his test comes back. and i guess i will too. which wouldn't be so bad if my daughter wasn't in full blown terrible two's mode
Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
we also bought some small stores of nonperishable foods and bottled water but really i wanted that for any generic emergency (most notably a polar vortex)
Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
The weird thing is that I haven't seen a single dumb person buying too much toilet paper. But there do seem to be a lot of super-geniuses who are unfortunately forced to buy some because of all the dumb people.
Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
i always wanted a fancy bidet. maybe this is the impetus i needed
Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
I turned myself into a toilet paper Morty

Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
i saw a report that someone's parents were buying toilet paper non-ironically
Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
I actually bought a bunch of toilet paper too. But, like, very intelligently. God knows why everyone else is buying it, it's inexplicable, they're probably panicking or something. Unlike them (basically apes acting on instinct), I (smart person) deployed insane amounts of IQ to ascertain that if everyone is buying toilet paper, it might run out, and then very calmly and rationally bought out the supply in a 3-block radius.
