I thought J&J's single dose just keeps giving longer, due to it being delivered in fat lipids, so you don't develop antibodies any faster, you just don't don't need a second dose to keep developing them

‘Practically impossible’ to keep COVID-19 variants out, officials say, as flights from hotspots continue
We just got India! We are crushing it. Did you guys know that Ontario is entirely shutdown? No coming in, no going out. Except for essential travel. So not really closed at all.
We're all gonna look back on this and laugh. Those of us that are still alive, anyway. Like, you know that hotel thing I was talking about? If you fly into Canada they make you stay at a hotel for three days. It turns out there's no like actual process to that. Of course I'm just hearing all this shit anecdotally, so let's take this with a grain of salt, but I'm among the people. On the front line. I hear things.
So anyway, like, how do you get to your hotel? Rent a car? You'd have to talk to somebody. Maybe like a government van shows up and takes you to a destination with no other people in it? That would be cool. Or maybe you just like take a cab or a city bus or whatever. Which of these is the most likely? And then you just ... go to a hotel. And talk to a front desk person like you would normally. Maybe from across the lobby? If that front desk person were lucky

lol "if rooms aren't available for your preferred dates, you must change your flight for a date when a government-authorized hotel is available"Shiny Days wrote:if it's a government authorized air bnb!haplo wrote:can I stay at an airbnb for 3 days? like the one I was already going to stay at during my trip to canada

Ontario now has 36 of that deadlier more infectious variant strain. Alberta has one case. There's 51 cases in Canada in total. BC is now shut down. Not even Province-wide either. Zone-wide, apparently. There's four. You can't travel in between them, even if you're, like, in BC. After two weeks of, uh, thisShiny Days wrote:Did you guys know that Ontario is entirely shutdown?
"In the last two weeks, more than 100 international flights landing in Canada have carried at least one positive COVID-19 case on board, according to the federal government.
At least 32 of those flights were from India, where a new variant – described as a “double mutant” – is swiftly spreading and raising concern."
We finally stopped flights from these uh you know going to kill literally everyone areas. Anyway here's an article about how it made people here in canada from those places / expecting friends / family from those places to be flying into the country, uh, now, like, today, sad:

(Again though you can just fly into the states and then pop up. Though Canada has said that they're doing ... something about that. Like that whole making you stay in a hotel thing, after your friends or family or whoever pick you up at the border in I'm assuming a camper or trailer or something so that you don't actually have direct contact with anybody because anything else would be insane)
Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
I heard one of the indigenous Montana tribes has managed to get like 98% of their people vaccinated so they've started giving their extras to Alberta folks across the border.

that appears to be the Blackfeet, actually, who are rad. a friend of mine back in town was from them. they're very, uh, nomadic, in a cool way.Fry Guy wrote:I heard one of the indigenous Montana tribes has managed to get like 98% of their people vaccinated so they've started giving their extras to Alberta folks across the border.
anyway, positive stuff! Canada predicts that something like 75% of our population is going to be, I guess half vaccinated by the end of May? fully vaccinated? that would be neat. that's a lot of the population. and May! like who knows what the summer is gonna look like if that's where we're at for May. but no word on like easing restrictions or health awareness stuff or whatever even if you are vaccinated
and then slightly less positive, Alberta wont lower the age of getting the thing despite our own self sliding into a third wave because, uh, they don't got any vaccines. we have 112 thousand and 100 thousand appointments and zero more coming, so...
Re: Charho-oh Virus Thread
75% of people vaccinated would basically mean everyone willing to get a vaccine would have one
