Re: Food thread
Been making ham and egg sandwiches lately. The ham and the egg go in the pan at the same time, so this is convenient

Butter first, until it's going, and then fry an egg and a slice of ham simultaneously. Use the egg as the timer for flipping and finishing both of them -- the ham will be done vicariously. Over hard makes a better sandwich

Re: Food thread
i've been getting freshly roasted whole coffee beans (roasted within the past 2 weeks or so) from a roastery for the last couple months
it's god damn amazing. normally coffee is too bitter for me to drink without milk/sugar, but this stuff is not bitter at all, with nothing in it. almost sweet. it basically tastes nothing like coffee, which is weird to say
i've been using a french press and a spice grinder. i'm thinking about upping my coffee game with a burr grinder though

Sounds like they're doing a blonde roast.Khaos wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 3:44 pm i've been getting freshly roasted whole coffee beans (roasted within the past 2 weeks or so) from a roastery for the last couple months

Re: Food thread
it's a medium roast! i just mean sweet in comparison to whatever coffee you normally would get from a whatever coffee shop or the grocery story
Re: Food thread
Sounds interesting.
I can attest that a Burr Grinder/French press is the way to go. That's how I make my coffee on the weekends.

Re: Food thread
and that's the tea. what grinder do you you? would you recommend it?
Re: Food thread
sweet. kinda pricy but i trust
is the lid for the beans air-tight or have a rubber seal or something?

Re: Food thread
It isn't airtight, unfortunately. I keep my beans in one of these and just put in enough for a grind.

If you guys wanted coffee help you could have just tagged me....
that's the cheapest burr grinder I would consider spending money on. Anything cheaper and you're lighting your money on fire. There are pretty big upgrades for 50 bucks more if you ever think you'd to make something besides drip and french press.
Speaking of french press, it's a great way to make coffee but it emphasizes the surface flavors which tends to over extract the roast instead of the bean. Which is great for lighter roasts but bad for darker roasts which can also be excellent with the right brewing method. French press makes anything oily downright undrinkable IMO.
I got a technivorm and can confirm that it is absolutely worth the money, if you're curious.

There is some really cool shit we need to do.

Re: Food thread
I haven't "quit" playing Destiny it just seems like I'm struggling to find motivation to play it lately. Like, I wanted to do cool shit last season but they wanted me to spend 20+ hours grinding my level up before I was allowed to do the cool shit... and i just eventually ran out of energy to do that. I never made it to endgame level last season. Chris has played a little bit? He has at least logged in.
I'm sure I'll play at some point IDK. What is it we need to do?
Re: Food thread
This is why I haven't been joining. You guys just keep playing Among Us and while Among Us is *fine* it's not going to make me give up other options to play it instead.
Re: Food thread
My mental energy levels have been VERY low in the evenings lately. A combination of the kids and a few big home improvement projects is putting me at a state where once it hits 5PM I am just ready to not talk to or do anything except maybe brainlessly play some overwatch or minecraft with the girls.
Re: Food thread
The Hawkmoon mission is worth doing. The new Presage mission and the Glykkon are very cool. It's gothic horror set in a drifting hulk in space. Very very Alienesque.Grakthis wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 6:42 pmI haven't "quit" playing Destiny it just seems like I'm struggling to find motivation to play it lately. Also, the seasonal battleground activity this season is really fun. Plus there is a new Recluse.

I never even finished the exotic sword quest from last season.
Re: Food thread
this grinder is pretty cool although i don't know that i can detect a huge difference in coffee flavour. there's less grit now though!
