That would make a good fake commercial, a sleep aid and then it turns out to be The Crown

haha i actually do this (use shows as a sleep aid).

theres really a sweet spot when it comes to good falling asleep shows. interesting enough that i try not to fall asleep to pay attention (and thus wear myself out into a sleep state), but not so interesting that it keeps me up.

lately ive been using the original star trek to great success. the annoying thing about the skip intro in that context, is that it doesnt skip the entire intro, but rather to the part where the chorus has reached its crescendo, and its really quite loud and not at all conducive to sleep. the original star trek actually has a lot of noises and music in it, at a volume above the dialogue, that makes it not that conducive to sleep. nonetheless i have adapted.
with love, your good friend, seathesee

Re-watching 2003 Battlestar Galactica after not getting enough Sackhoff time in the Mandalorian. My 13 & 10 are enjoying it, but man is it sad.

Apparently The Crown is also grossly historically inaccurate and unfair in addition to being boring!

A historical drama is grossly inaccurate? :panic:

This one's more icky than usual because it's very recent history involving people who are still alive.

You want something that's semi-historical, involves recent history, might involve people who are still alive, and is ridiculously entertaining?

Go watch The Bank Job. The Guy Ritchie oeuvre aside, it may be Statham's best movie.

So the Loki trailer dropped.

Looks like maybe they’re adapting the Agent of Asgard storyline, which is promising.

I watched all of Queen's Gambit to make sure I gave it a fair chance and I can now safely say it is not good.

I thought Queen's Gambit was okay. The last episode in particular was a really good conclusion. But I can't shake the sense that it's kind of just a poor man's Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

I had to look that up, but it doesn't look like the protagonist is an improbably talented and attractive young white woman beating scores of mediocre white men at male dominated thing.

Can someone explain to me why Go Go Cory Carson is good? It's literally some random thing netflix churned out, based on an off-brand car toy? And it's really good?

No, it's good. At least the first 2 seasons. We randomly reverted back to paw patrol, so have not watched the (new!) third seaon.

I gave them both these talking/crying baby Yodas (actually had each of them wrap a baby yoda for the other person). Obviously both went berserk saying they wanted it -- so I thought I was right in getting one for each -- but my son just goes "I wanted an air patroller" when he opened his. So I made him sell the yoda on CL and buy a lot of paw patrol toys on CL, as one does.

It's odd. Stinky and Dirty -- talking cars/vehicles and amazing; Cory Carson -- talking cars/vehicles and amazing; Cars -- talking cars/vehicles and fucking awful.

If your argument is that kids don't appreciate quality car-based cinema, then yes, my son's reaction to watching Taxi Driver would seem to support your thesis.

I feel like it's kind of a wide range
