the smallbox moving picture with sound thread (telly vision)

Probably what *this* should be called.

I thought for sure that we were going to find out that if you're eaten by the cloud monster, you don't die but merely get sent to the Void Void

I'm rewatching babylon 5 and I remembered the resolution to the main arc sucking ass and yet somehow it's worse! the good stuff about the show is still very good though

I re-watched it the summer before last. The good stuff is every bit as good as remembered. The bad stuff is just cringy as hell (and so very very 90's).

So I have started watching Rick and Morty.

I am enjoying the humor and the writing, but the voice acting is driving me crazy. Jerry, Beth and Summer are voiced by professional actors. Rick and Morty are both voiced by the co-creator of the show (not Harmon) and he is not a good voice actor. It's exceptionally off putting.

Their voices don't change over the course of the show, so I guess it's going to be a long ride

Huh I looked up Justin Roiland just now, and it turns out he has been a professional voice actor before Rick and Morty. I've never heard of the shows he was in, though

The voice acting for Rick is basically the best part of the show

Yeah, the only one who breaks the fourth wall for me is Jerry. I picture Chris Parnell every time Jerry talks.

I actually don't.

The only thing I've seen him in live action is 30 Rock. And Leo Spaceman is a very different character than either Jerry Smith or Cyril Figgis (however Jerry and Cyril are basically interchangeable).

I will offer this though, he gets a lot of roles that would have gone to Phil Hartman, if the latter were still around.

they stop stuttering as much, which is probably the most off-putting part!

This is probably a good time to add that the Rick and Morty announcer pack for Dota 2 was incredible and I think I miss it more than I miss actually playing Dota.

eh i mean that episode wasn't great. and maybe "men are blatantly sexist, haha!" was funny the first time someone did it but it's not funny to me anymore (not just in the context of this one show, I mean). but it's a high variance show by nature, so i'm not worried. like the first episode this season was great. probably there will be more good episodes in the future at some point

Man I was planning to check out Rick and Morty sometime, but but everything about this conversation is making me not want to. It sounds like an extremely obnoxious show.

I always tell people that their first episode to watch should be Total Rickall. If you like that you'll like the show, and if you don't then you won't

that episode was super good, but i wouldn't recommend it as the very first episode because it benefits a lot from having some context about who the characters are. especially
Spoiler!
how it's the first appearance of Mr. Poopybutthole

Before I looked up which episode this was, I asked myself which episode I would recommend and I immediately thought of the Mr. Poopybutthole one so :hfive:

Runners up are interdimensional cable 2 and the Meeseeks one.
