You know, I never saw season 9 (or 10) of The Walking Dead, so I thought I would give it a shot

They go to a museum in D.C. to see if there's anything worth taking. This museum has an enormous glass floor in the atrium, but one meant for people to walk across, so it's reinforced by steel. There are zombies walking around underneath this glass floor on the level below, so obviously this is going to lead to a setup

Well they poke around the museum, and before you know it, the group for some reason is trying to bring a covered wagon -- like the kind that would have crossed the Great Plains -- out of the museum, and of course across the plate glass floor. Oh and also they're trying to bring a wooden canoe out of the museum across this same floor, a dugout canoe made from a single tree

And of course the glass floor starts cracking and shit

I mean

There have to be boats all over the place, right, and wheels, and you know you could make a wagon, so

wtf am I watching

It's unreal

We need this canoe from this museum -- this canoe that has been made from a single tree

OK but like, why don't we just make these canoes

This wonderful lost artifact -- this is how we rebuild

I could sort of understand the wagon one in that a bunch of modern age people might not be wagonmaking experts and want to look at a good wagon as a blueprint at least i guess

but man theres gonna be perfectly good modern era boats around you dont need a fuckin canoe

I know several people who have seen Foundation, and they said the same things

1. Stupidly woke
2. Added stuff not from the books in any way whatsoever
3. Great acting, good enough to make it a good show despite 1. and 2.

foundation is unusual among such shows in that the adapted material is bad (psychohistory never really worked but where asimov more or less successfully finessed that they totally faceplant on it and end up making it a stupid mystical thing) but the original material set on trantor is actually pretty compelling. I guess it never gets made if it can't be pitched as an adaptation of the books though

Correct :) & season 11 has been a good watch, not just sending me to slumberland to zombie groaning.

I'd agree with this. I re-read the books about a decade ago & was a bit floored how bad Asimov's female characters were; the show overcompensates but it's a good watch. It can get more cerebral about the concepts it's playing with, I wouldn't mind, & I think it won't scare off the casuals.

The original Salvor’s motto is that “violence is the last refuge of the incompetent”; the TV show gives the line to her father, and has Salvor march into the Terminus armory to “see what violence we can muster.”

If it ends badly it could be character growth that results in her claiming the phrase.

It probably won’t be anything that complex, but one can hope.

& the season ends like a PK Dick short story, though they damned well better pick it up for season 2 XD

Well, while Moon Knight was better than the other Marvel shows, somehow it still felt somewhat unsatisfying

Because everything has to be a cliffhanger and nothing can be resolved, I guess

I find that surprising. WandaVision was damned near perfect really only being marred by the typical superhero throw down in the final episode. Moon Knight was just kind of meh. There were a few good moments, and Oscar Isaac was great, but the entire thing was kind of disjointed. It didn't really flow and there wasn't much of an actual story.
Pour like Hemingway's last call.
