This has inspired me to look up Youtube censorship and it's quite interesting! Apparently there's a long list of offensive words and phrases that, if you include them in a youtube comment, it will be automatically shadowbanned (youtube won't tell you anything is amiss, and you'll still see your comment, but no one else will). And these words include some rather innocent ones (or at least ones that can very plausibly be used innocently), such as "ugly", "slant" and "virgin".
Oh shit no wonder when I was talking about the ugly slanted Virgin Records building, nobody responded
haha
hate it when this happens

After watching many videos which included Simon explaining Phistomefel's Theorem, I was a little bit surprised that a Pythagoras' Theorem mini tutorial for those of us without advanced mathematics knowledge was not included.

ok maybe we give the person the benefit of the doubt and assume they meant proving the theorem, but the context mentions "explaining" and "mini tutorial" so I don't think so

my mother keeps sending me links to
ZDoggMD, & while it's not as eyebrow raising as when she converted to being a serious gamer (thanks Halo?!), it's a fascinating journey, to be sure.

Interesting. In my household we've moved our Father's Day observance to July because my birthday, the summer solstice and Father's Day all fall within ten days of each other every year. Pushing it out gives it room to breathe. But maybe we should just do it in September like you guys!

Yeah yeah, & when that starts catching on, we'll subtly introduce the metric system

question for australians: what are the bad australian swears? in the US the c-word is the most offensive (non-racial) word whereas australians seem to use it like it's not even a swear word, so i'm wondering what words australians use to actually swear intensely

debatable. but you can throw more stuff into the "non-racial" exception if you want. like there are things that are slurs against particular people and then there are just general swears. though i suppose one could argue that the c-word is a slur against women, idk

Asshole carried a lot of weight when I first moved here, but that seems to have fallen off to just another swear, especially generationally.
I would argue cunt is against women, & the Australians who use it tend to be blighters & bogans anyway, so it feels pretty high on the shit list. Stuff like fuckwit & old mate just don't rate in comparison.
