I know nobody is going to watch 40 minutes of YouTube but I swear this channel is really good and hey, it's about artistry and the humanity behind it so I'm just sucking up to the admin

EDIT: Sidenote, but animation is absolutely the most toxic art community btw

the more quality the more art it is, that's just common sense

Sure, I'm aware of animations like that, but they prove my point. Pause it anywhere, look at a single frame. It has so much less detail than any of the frames in the AI animation I posted! Of course it does! You can't make 24 fully detailed paintings for a single second of footage, that is insane, no one can do that. But with the help of AI, now they can!

ok what purpose would having the background change in every frame of an animation serve

you compress the art into a zip file, and the size of the zip file is the quality of the art. It's simple information theory.

you compress a wav of the shocked noises people make when they first see it into a zip file, and the size of the zip file is the quality of the art

judging by twitter the current hype is people generating pictures of their waifu which uh, good for them but it's not really that inspiring

Uhh, how is that not the most inspiring use case?

Curious to see where that level of the tech is at

I've seen some AI-generated anime waifus, they're pretty good! Obviously the power of a waifu is the story she's in, but visually many of them are interesting and distinct and just plain cool.

I assumed Rylinks was talking about new images of a specific waifu target, not that generic wonky GAN stuff

You may be talking about newer replacements to generic wonky GAN stuff and they might also be cool though!

well, not inspiring in the sense of "artists using AI in brilliant and creative ways like this"

ashenai animation has existed for a hundred years
Not with the entire image (including background) changing every frame. Not with quality like that.
this is a better example of what you're talking about i think because this video is much radder

i guess a person could argue for it being high effort content if it took them a really long time to come up with the prompt
