It's Videogames

Re: It's Videogames
that looks like a really good breakdown, and a dogshit game
Re: It's Videogames
I've been playing Vampire Survivors lately, it's a very cool little game! It reminds me of One Finger Death Punch in a lot of ways. It's basically a top-down shooter like Binding of Isaac, except all the shooting is automatic, your controls are limited to movement (and selecting power ups when you level). It's a very simple game that's just primal, uncomplicated fun for the entire time you're playing. I have 5 hours in it so far, and I have no idea if I'm gonna go 5 more, but I already feel like I've easily gotten my $3 worth.
Re: It's Videogames
I also endorse this game, especially for $3.
I've survived past 25 minutes a couple times now but after that shit gets real.

Yeah I'm trying to do a no-upgrade run of the Forest right now (I hate metaprogression). It feels possible! But very hard! Haven't succeeded yet, but it's fun trying.
Re: It's Videogames
Wait, what does success mean? There's an end??

what does success mean
Re: It's Videogames
Looks like the game sends invincible enemies to kill you at 30 minutes. As in life, you cannot truly win.
Re: It's Videogames
I think all roguelikes have this concept
Even Everspace eventually sends a godlike fleet of alien ships into the sector to annihilate you, forcing you to move on

Re: It's Videogames
I can't actually think of a roguelike I've played where it's impossible to win, but this seemed like the kind of thing where it was just going to keep getting harder indefinitely.
Another thing I haven't figured out, does the screen wrap eventually? Or is it infinite. I feel like I moved a long ass way to the left in library and never got back to the floor chicken I left.
Re: It's Videogames
Okay I got to 28 minutes by basically cocooning myself in body blocks from monsters frozen in time. I guess I was supposed to level a real weapon instead though, huh.
Re: It's Videogames
Have you evolved a weapon yet?

Re: It's Videogames
Yeah the bones are good times. Is that a victory?
Re: It's Videogames
If so, you are in the incorrect thread.

Re: It's Videogames
i did the ethical calculus and it turns out this means everyone should give me $40,000
Re: It's Videogames
dammit, screwed by ethical calculus once again
Re: It's Videogames
it is kind of absurd that anyone can buy what is probably one of the top 5 biggest companies by gaming revenue, which I think is the largest entertainment industry in the world?
