I can't fathom having that many games one would feel compelled to play, much less complete. I play Civ 6 once in a blue moon, & PoGo when I'm on walkabout, but mostly it's just Minecraft. Elden Ring was fun, but after exploring a bit I had the urge to go mine diamonds :/

I really, really like games. I especially like trying different games! I'm for sure addicted to the rush of imagination expansion from learning a new games mechanics and figuring out it's deal. The best games are the ones that trigger than and then hook me hard with their story, too.

I actually left a few potentials off the list and didn't include games that don't have release dates but that I'll absolutely play. It's also possible I start a series (like Trails of Cold Steel) and go meh, not for me. For example, I tried to play Witcher 3 again for a bit, died in a super stupid way and, uh, I'm not sure this game is fun? Where's the hype?

Odin Sphere is pretty good as long as you're not playing it on a PS2 at 5 frames per second. I would definitely play it over like 10 other games on that list. I Am Setsuna, Ni No Kuni 2, Xanadu Ex, eh... who has time for mediocrity. Uncharted 4 was a pretty big letdown.

But you know what similar game I would absolutely play over Odin Sphere? Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.

I don't know anything about Paper Mario but I do know that Bug Fables exists and some people like it.

not sure. i was not super impressed with origami king's puzzle battle system. it got old fast

i am currently playing through 1000 year old door and i am surprised at how bad it is. origami king is certainly better than this one

Kind of a weird game. As far as action-platformers go, it's above average but of course not as good as something like Hollow Knight. As far as story goes, it's nothing special (well, neither is Odin Sphere). Arti would say it's overflowing with soul. It has a surprisingly in-depth rice farming mechanic, but for me the best part was how it blended farming and action together such that each of them are just as important as the other, and they work in tandem such that doing one enhances your ability to to the other.

I am trying out Don't Starve again, I never got too into it last time. I have since discovered how incredibly strong armor is. My last run was pretty good. Felt like I could have survived forever but then I saw a deerclops and thought surely I could kill it. I could not.

I bought the DLC without realizing each one is a separate, more challenging standalone experience. I can't even beat the base game, so I guess I just wasted that money.

yeah I just mean exploring the whole map, making everything, etc

I am considering getting https://store.steampowered.com/app/1637 ... l_Project/ but I'm not totally convinced yet. 4chan has bamboozled me as many times as they've been correct.

I've never been much for farming games, but this sounds interesting. Thanks.

That's a shame. I loved Paper Mario on N64 and Super Paper Mario. I never played the gamecube ones? Maybe those'll be on virtual at some point. It seems like a hard formula to fuck up? Like, just make a real sequel to Super Mario RPG, even! (I know the rights there are fucked up)

I beat Triangle Strategy (or, as Harper calls it, Triangle Circle) and got a poopy ending. I still don't understand how the conviction system (you have scores for utility, morality, and liberty based on what you do) interacts with endings. Near the end, it seemed like I had a choice of three paths, thus three endings? But apparently there are four possibilities? I hope three aren't poopy and the good one is the super secret perfect ending.

I started playing through again, skipping old scenes and just doing the new ones, and the story is fairly different but still loops back into similar paths at points. I think there are also some "choices" that get invalidated no matter what you do, but effect your scores and such. I'm going to hold off looking at a guide until I've gone through at least one more time.
