But whoops that's where all your replayability was supposed to come from.
I think a lot of the replayability is supposed to come from the story (weirdly enough). You get new (very significant!) story elements until the 10th clear, and getting the full story is supposed to be a motivating factor.
If it's not, for you, then yeah don't bother.

Uh, yes. I do not care about the Greek mythology fanfiction part.

Yeah like, just throwing the roguelike shit out the window and evaluating Hades as an action game, it's kind of not very fun! Elysium in particular is a very annoying zone and I kind of actively dislike replaying it.

It's funny, the way you describe StS is how I remember feeling as I played through Hades. Different weapons and different boons from the gods made it feel a lot different to me run to run. But I also did enjoy the story progression and I'm sure that helped.
Haven't played StS, for what it's worth.

I enjoyed Hades and I would have definitely played it more if the metaprogression didn't bother me so much
What I usually do with metaprogression roguelikes is make up a meta-failure state that turns them back into regular roguelikes, e.g. "from a clean save, every run has to reach more rooms than the one before, if I ever fail this challenge then I delete my progress". Because I need the threat of failure in a roguelike to keep my interest. That particular condition is not very good, though. If I come up with a good one I could see myself playing lots more Hades!

For example, I played quite a lot of Rogue Legacy once I came up with the following rules:
1) All money has to be spent every time (meaning I can only leave the shop screen once there is nothing else I can buy)
2) If I ever cannot buy the most expensive available upgrade after a death, I delete my progress.
This made it fun for me, because every single run had the threat of meta-death (progress deletion). Rogue Legacy still wasn't a terribly great game, but the challenge made it fun.

The hardest thing about the final boss is you have to go through a whole run before you get to practice dodging his stuff. The run I finally beat him I didn't have anything special, I just had the knowledge of how not to eat shit.
Like, people talk about metaprogression and stuff and yes you can't realistically beat the game without death defied, but the real actual progression is in game knowledge. Which I think is as it should be? I don't know I need some time to ruminate about what the game design take away is.
I beat hades like 12 times before I put in a 100% file
I also tried doing some fresh file runs with no unlocks and they are hard as fuck. megara kicks my ass almost every time. so I think you are wrong about hades's progression here. (the big unlock imo is the multi dash not the 1 up)

I tried this and barely got my ass beat, I missed the double cast more than the double dash, which surprised me. The sword also sucks , right? I feel like the sword sucks.

to me the sword feels like the third-best weapon after spear and gun
are you constantly cancelling the primary, secondary, and dash attack into each other?

Yeah but the fists are just better at doing that, and the uppercut seems better than the slam. The sword's range is a little bit better but you still basically gotta be right in there.

I can't
really tell without playing, but I'm very much digging the gameflow of SF6. (Skip to 2:37 for full speed if you don't care about the annotations. Skip to 3:54 if you don't care about Street Fighter.)

I have dreams involving Warcraft 3 more than makes any sense. I think something about the opening build order ritual got coffee-stained into my subconscious somewhere.
