Re: starcraft
just watched the deepmind AI guys stream an exhibition match of Starcraft 2 with their robot against a human pro. pretty neat
Re: starcraft
(here is a link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUTMhmVh1qs )
i always thought old style bots had no chance to even touch top starcraft players, even with superior apm, and i still think that
but it makes sense that deepmind could easily exceed top starcraft players even with less apm; it's basically like how the human brain works except wholly dedicated to the game instead of having to worry about the rest of the universe
although the fact that it was PvP same map same spawn position makes it a less impressive result, but probably it's not too hard to go from there to something more general
obv this is like a silly facet of things to focus on, but in a future where deepmind is comoditized it's going to be amusing that i could like figure out what netrunner deck i should play by just throwing deepmind at the meta or something
though that's maybe even a harder problem than starcraft - playing a specific deck vs another specific deck is easier, but adding deckbuilding in makes things more complicated - so who knows

Re: starcraft
mutalisks flapping their wings in space always seemed strange to me
not just on the space tileset, but in cinematics as well

Re: starcraft
interview with a mutalisk where you ask them why they're flapping in space and they start drifting away helplessly
