Re: starcraft
People think that the term “turtle” comes from a player shelling up like the animal and making themselves difficult to attack, but it’s actually an acronym:
Terran’s
Unbelievably
Resilient
Turtle
Line of
Entrenchment
Or T.U.R.T.L.E.
The Turtle inside the acronym T.U.R.T.L.E. does refer to the animal though.

Re: starcraft
That was fun to watch as someone with basically no exposure to high level play. What exactly caused the game to play out so unusually, was the Protoss doing some weird gimmick?

Re: starcraft
bio play is generally an all-in by terran. he tried to kill the protoss early, but it didn't work
he built starports & wraiths to counter the carriers, and basically once the late game hits, there is essentially no way to go bio, because it gets countered WAY too hard by storm
so i guess he went into battlecruisers because it's better than bio, and he had the starport production anyway. protoss should have went arbiter, because stasis is crazy vs BCs. nukes are basically anti-static D

yeah luckily he stops talking relatively earlyBlissful wrote:artosis is incredibly grumpy on-stream

Re: starcraft
ghosts are actually a good unit versus protoss, but they are very difficult to use. there is no smart casting in this game, so if you have a group selected and click lockdown they'll all lockdown the same unit, so you have to "clone" the lockdown command, i.e. shift deselect the units after issuing the command, which artosis does in this game. you also have to be far away from the carriers to do it too because if you try it and they're within range, they'll all cast the spell immediately, which is why you see artosis scan & do the cloning from far away.
because they're so micro intensive and fragile, even the highest rank terran players often opt to skip them so that they don't fall behind in macro.

Re: starcraft
i think battlecruisers are actually not a terrible unit versus protoss if you had infinite APM, but because protoss spells like storm and stasis punish clumped battlecruisers, it's very tough to do with normal, even high APM. terran does have science vessels that counter those units, but that's even MORE micro you have to think about.

the disjoint between him as a caster and him as a streaming personality remains really surprising to me

Re: starcraft
i think he hams it up a bit to attract viewership, but the bitterness as a player is certainly coming from somewhere real

Re: starcraft
It's a funny story, although I think I don't fully get the punchline. Are Protoss players supposed to be dumb? (And if yes, why?) I only played a very little bit of Starcraft way back when, so I'm not really up on the memes.
