Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
The main argument against drinking/drugs is that it's too good
wow, [you]. that all sounds terrible. i hope it gets better for you
Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
I'm in the same boat as you (for different reasons); I mostly just feel awful when I drink and booze is more expensive than not-booze so it's lose/lose for meKhaos wrote::<

Even if that were true for me I feel like I'd still drink because alcoholic drinks are delicious.
Sugar basically makes me feel like shit but I still go for it every time because it's delicious.
Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
Oh yeah, I could imagine this being the case for someone. To me they also taste bad so it's lose/lose/losepterrus wrote:Even if that were true for me I feel like I'd still drink because alcoholic drinks are delicious.

Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
I see. Honestly nowadays 95% of my drinking is just for the taste, I don't really drink multiple drinks at all unless it's a social situation. Like, say, we're playing Jackbox.
Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
it's fine if you guys wanna drink i just like to complain
Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
Little did Khaos know I was already drinking last time.

Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
will probably be in the discord at 7pm MT tomorrow again; i'll try to come earlier if possible though
Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
has it been decided what game is going to be played?
u gotta skate
Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
we can decide depending on the number of people, but i think more halo/hots is happening
i dunno how interested other people are in trying sea of thieves

Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
it was announced yesterday that it's coming to steam. another thing to buy, thoughKhaos wrote:we can decide depending on the number of people, but i think more halo/hots is happening

oh risk of rain 2 is free this weekend
Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
i'm definitely happy to play either of those. i feel like i kind of know what i'm doing in hots now, so if Juri and Rylinks are around then it would be fun to try it again and see if we are collectively less of a disasterKhaos wrote:we can decide depending on the number of people, but i think more halo/hots is happening

what's risk of rain 2. it looks like WoW :/
edit: ah a roguelite. i'd be down to try it. looks like it only supports 4 players though so
Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
I'm more interested in Sea of Thieves than HoTS for what it's worth.
Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
I'm going to be playing killing floor with Benzo and Cab again because we're now obsessed with this but when you guys start playing I can switch over cause you guys start a lot later.
Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
oh also i should say that i am likely out for tomorrow because i am going to see my parents
u gotta skate
Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
the part where i still have to go to the grocery store anyway / people are still getting takeout food / you can still get packages from amazon / people who were already living with each other are still living with each other, but somehow the marginal risk of going to see anyone IRL is totally unacceptable
u gotta skate
Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
i think it might be ok if you're working from from home? i dont see my mom or sister because im exposed to people at work. otherwise i would have my mom over
(note that i see her briefly when i drop off groceries/other stuff for her once or twice a week)

Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
and i don't mean this post like "i am confident that what i am doing is right, fuck you!", just like, that is my thought process. i've been holed up in my room for three weeks going nowhere (except the grocery store) and i can't go see them? probably there is still some marginal risk that i have it and give it to them because i have roommates / the grocery store, or that they (or my brother) has it and gives it to me etc and its one of those irrational things where the EV says "don't do it" and my dumb lizard brain is like "meh, unlikely things don't actually happen, plus i'm immortal" and then i do it anyway

Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
you go to the grocery store and never come within 2m of anyone (aside from briefly entering the cashier's bubble as you go from one end to the other) and sanitize your hands etc before entering. and amazon packages are left at your door with nobody ever coming within 2m of you, same with whichever takeaways are still open. you're also generally dealing with younger, healthier, lower risk people involved in these transactions vs your parents who I assume are pushing 60? the act of going to your parent's house is also creating unnecessary travel in and of itself which has various minor risks involved.Crunchums wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 3:48 pm the part where i still have to go to the grocery store anyway / people are still getting takeout food / you can still get packages from amazon / people who were already living with each other are still living with each other, but somehow the marginal risk of going to see anyone IRL is totally unacceptable
I'm not saying this because I think you're a bad person from all this or anything, it's as much that I'm surprised "going to visit my parents" is still a thing? full disclosure, if our daily walk takes us near my parents' i will go past the fence and chat across the garden, which is partially because socially distant interaction with them keeps on their good side which is useful selfishly (my dad has both a car and an NHS ID so he can get supplies that I can't) and selflessly (I really don't want them getting fed up and deciding to just visit me, you know). i feel like that's distinct from what is implied by "going to visit my parents", but it's very much a case of balancing the realistic minimum

Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
I don't think it's a personal EV calculation and that's kind of the problem
Each outing is fine EV. The problem is everyone doing fine EV things for themselves is bad EV for everyone
It's like, if we all isolate totally for two weeks, this thing is gone. Okay well we live with other people and aren't going to isolate from those we live with, so how about 3 weeks. Okay well we need groceries and prescriptions and some doctor visits and that means some people need to work so how about 4 weeks. Okay well we're feeling really cramped up and need to go visit family a little and order some takeout food every once in while so how about 5 weeks
We still have exponential growth which means if you spread the disease to one person, you contribute to, I don't know, thousands getting it? The first guy who ate a pangolin or whatever was probably not doing an EV calculation of maybe tens of thousands of people die
FWIW I haven't been perfect myself and am not judgin', just sharing how I'm thinking about it

Re: Saturday Night Grobot (PC) Games
When you go to see someone IRL you generally spend a lot more time close to them than the time you spend with a cashier. The risk is a lot greater.Crunchums wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 3:48 pm the part where i still have to go to the grocery store anyway / people are still getting takeout food / you can still get packages from amazon / people who were already living with each other are still living with each other, but somehow the marginal risk of going to see anyone IRL is totally unacceptable
