GURPS

Post by catonkeyboard » Tue Apr 14, 2020 4:22 am

A while back we had a fun thread about making our own RPG parties. We should like, do that again!
Spoiler!
So I had way too much fun listening to this episode of the "Axe of the Blood God" podcast, where the hosts build their 5 Character "Perfect RPG Party"
https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/usgame ... e/51164572

It's so dorky, but has captured my imagination.

I've also only played 5-10 RPGs in my life, which sort of limits this...

Leader: Jessica Albert, DQVIII
Fighter: Yangus, DQVIII
Cleric: Agrias, FFT
Thief: Locke, FFVI
Wizard: Vivi, FFIX

This party is built more for characters than for raw power (the dichotomy between the two being the most fun part of that podcast). Basically I'm looking for characters that deal with Loss in interesting ways, as well as characters where the search for their own humanity (machismo's more interesting older brother).

I'm happy to dorkily talk bout these characters and your favorites in the thread below!
I don't have a new party yet, but this is as good a time as any to point out that Rapunzel from Tangled is the best Disney Cleric with her powerful frying pan and magical healing hair.

It's easy to suggest Merlin (Sword in the Stone version) as a Wizard, but I think he's actually a Druid, what with all the shapechanging.
The world needs more Bohemian Ear-Spoons

Here's a party for you:

The Silent Protagonists
Leader: Crono (Chrono Trigger)
Fighter: Link (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)
Cleric: Hero (Dragon Quest V)
Thief: Joker (Persona 5)
Wizard: Hero (Dragon Quest III)

I'm just tickled by the idea of a party that says nothing and buzzsaws through everything

are you just using the gurps acronym here because its related to your concept? i had slightly different expectations clicking into the thread ("the hot new work by the artist that brought you NLP signoffs")
