"This could be accomplished by involving women in decision-making and political processes, allowing them to formulate future plans, development programs, and policies, as well as overseeing their execution for the benefit of Palestinian society and the establishment of a Palestinian state (The Political Participation of Palestinian Women in the Public and Private sectors, 2013)."

I have some very particular notes on the translator's word choice here

It's important to understand, though, that if someone refuses to get on my dick they won't actually go to hell, I'd never do that. But they won't refuse, because of the implication.

When you're translating to English, you want to introduce as many of the following words and phrases as possible

Dude
Bro
Whoa
Like
For real
Chill
It's your turn in Cthulhu Wars
It's your turn in Squirrel Wars
It's your turn in Demon Wars
It's your turn in Wall Street Wars

there's nothing inherently wrong with any of those words (except yabai), it depends on context

Japanese teenage slang exists! It's often appropriate to translate it into English teenage slang (doing it correctly takes a lot of skill, which most localizers don't have, but there is nonetheless a way to do it correctly)

So the problem here is that you (general you, english-speaking anime watchers. but also specific you, arti) feel contempt towards English-speaking teenagers. That's not the problem, that's kind of normal. But it means that for you, modern English teenager slang (pog, sus, cringe) is a basilect, a dialect that only idiots use. You hear someone say "cringe" and your opinion of them goes down.

All of this is ordinary. But what I think you don't get is that Japanese teenage slang has the same effect on Japanese watchers. It doesn't have the same effect on you! When a Japanese teen anime character says "gettingu!", that probably comes across as cute to you, but it feels the same to a Japanese watcher as "cringe!" feels to you. (It feels normal to teens watching the show, and it feels annoying to adults).

So this is why it's often correct to translate Japanese teen slang into English teen slang. It might make the character less likeable to you, but that's the intended effect. That's what the show is going for. Teens using their own dialect to make adults feel unwelcome.

you have a weird habit of just making stuff up and then believing that (which is reasonable i guess why wouldnt you), but then i also have a habit of just never correcting you

If you don't correct me why would I stop believing it, though? If you want to be understood you need to respond with more than "nope"

Place names are very different, and I wouldn't recommend that anyone translate them except in very specific circumstances. I don't think even Tolkien had a problem with, for example, the various poems in LOTR being translated into Dutch.

Although as a counterexample to place names, it is absolutely the responsibility of any decent translator to try and find a clever way to translate e.g. Diagon Alley from Harry Potter
