i very very frequently autosnap back. eat shit opponent! otherwise i try to use snap / forfeit wisely, i really enjoy getting away with only 1 cube lost when something goes crazy wrong

is there any way to make the mechanics in this game flavorful?

the locations seem flavorful, and a few cards are, and a few more cards beyond that are well sold by an animation, but largely i think the cards don't map to flavor very well. is there a different theming or IP that would make the card mechanics map to flavor better?

if you were able to challenge a friend, what would the SNAP currency be?

1) there could be no currency. you can ignore it, or you can just pretend the amount you win by is meaningful, however you want to play
2) it could be the same currency. this would make it cheatable, so it would lose value as a global indicator, but still would be nice to see where your friends are at. it would very much change what kinds of things work on a reward track for it
3) it could be a separate "vs friends" currency. i think this feels weird, since vs friends play is often a more casual affair. i don't mind it intermixing with the global currency, but i don't like the implied importance of dominating my friends
4) you could challenge a friend to either #1 style game, OR a series of games "first to N points", a little 2 player tournament with options on whether deck switching or sideboarding is allowed
5) you could have deck specific points somehow. haven't thought about this much
6) other

5 is a cool idea, though, and i dont really see any reason that couldnt be implemented alongside 4. i guess theres the issue of how transitory decklists are--you change one card and its a different deck. maybe card statistics would work better than deck statistics?

yeah it seems separate

oh interesting, each card in your deck gets a cubelet (1/12th of a cube) per cube you win/lose

some character flavor that i'm thinking is currently working well. i'm not including heroes i don't know, and i don't know marvel that well

- size / energy costs of a lot of heroes. ant-man, hulk, abomination, raccoon, star lord, odin

- actual mechanics of a few heroes. mr fantastic, nightcrawler, maybe professor x

- animations that sell it. raccoon, star lord kinda, mr. fantastic of course although he also works mechanically

I think most of them map to flavor fairly decently! Nightcrawler is a teleporter. Captain America leads a team. It doesn't always work great, because the mechanical design space is a lot more limited than in Magic, but I think most of the heroes are somewhat recognizable.

Professor X is actually one I don't like so much, I think it's supposed to evoke the concept of him locking down the school when there's danger or something? I think he would have been better served by some kind of hand-reading mechanic instead, or making your opponent do their moves before you do yours (there's another hero who does this, but I forget who).

cap works conceptually but it isn't visceral at all i don't think. shouldn't he use his shield? that's even what they animated

wolverine is a bit better than cap but still in the same boat i think. probably colossus here too

cyclops animation tells me he's cyclops from the comic books x-men. and that he's NOT vanilla, oops

shouldn't ant man not use a slot or something? i'm sure that's what they were going for but it doesn't come across at all

doctor strange ?? he manipultes space i guess. doesn't come across flavorfully to me

iron man ??

i wasn't commenting on ones i don't know, but maybe the deal is with heroes i don't know, i don't have any expectations. i expect cap to do something cool with his shield

i think it's cool that they can do special events this way, kinda lame that they're doing one now after a different one all weekend, and especially so with it being a crazy combo piece again

i saw on twitter that they put the 1-cost always draw this in the game so people would stop complaining that there were not mulligans
