apparently netflix is making a live action version https://deadline.com/2018/09/avatar-the ... 202467089/
the original creators are involved, so i am optimistic
certainly it would be difficult to be as bad as the movie

Is it like, a new story, or a reprise of atla? I feel like after the other one wasn't good people will expect this one to not be also

I'd never watched it, so now we are having it for breakfast.

Bring on the kung-fu amputees - no arms vs. no legs anyone? A bit of high-speed underground ninja-tunneling is always good as well. I wanna see some shit like that. Crazy monks with gnarly special powers can make any film good. FACT.

yes. i feel like they cheapened how awesome she was when they gave everyone metal bending (and then introduced unbendable metal)

korra made a lot of bad decisions; that + making it apparently trivial to create lightning with firebending is near the top of the list

Skip Korra, got it.

We're a quarter through Book:Fire now, wtf Zuko. Those jocks were idiots but randomly burning down their house..?

It's like he wasn't listening when Iroh said "No, she's crazy, and she needs to go down!"

My off week from the kids, now I gotta wait :kiddo:

thinking on it, a person could really just watch this, despite it being the "end." the first thing is just explaining that avatar does have some flaws, so you're not just coming at korra rabid because avatar was just so fucking good. then two and three are just going through the episodes and how little sense they make. this last one is like, holy shit the characters in avatar are so good (they are so good), and then the characters in Korra are not good.

also, apparently, the writer guy from Avatar didn't come over to Korra, and sure he didn't "come up with the thing," but man. he's apparently the whole thing.

well
season 1 is pretty decent. the finale is disappointing, but in their defense they thought one season was all they were going to get to make
season 2 is a train wreck. but it has two flashback episodes that are great and leave you wanting more
season 3 is really really good
season 4 is disappointing
so like, i dunno? i would sooner recommend watching 1 and the flashback episodes in 2 and 3 than not watching anything at all. i dunno how weird you would feel watching 3 and they're like hey remember when this thing happened and you're like no because it happened in 2. but like 3 is so good and 2 is so bad

We binged the rest of the run, what a ride. I have convinced the children that's all there is, Korra can wait.
