I was actually thinking of the two 3rd level spells in D&D, but death of the author applies

Can we just "smooth past" the outliers?KingRamz wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 4:10 pm If you're talking limited it still seems highly context-dependent. Fireball would be better than Bolt in Rise of the Eldrazi limited. If it's a format where you can often expect to spend four or five mana on your Fireball to kill two priority targets then Fireball's probably better there too.

i started playing in New Phrexia so its probably been like that always since ive playedthe_zoomies wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 3:28 pmI mean, you could play 4th editions too
My opinion is that Fireball was better than bolt in Alpha, but now is not. So eye (I) (I) was thunking you (U) might have a personal "inflection point" where the quality of creatures made bolt better
but thats mostly an assessment of constructed and kingramz is right that in limited formats its highly contextual

no, but we can "jace's erasure" them awaythe_zoomies wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 5:59 amCan we just "smooth past" the outliers?KingRamz wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 4:10 pm If you're talking limited it still seems highly context-dependent. Re: Juri News
Thinking about it some more I think that most of the time in limited Fireball is better, as long as we are talking about specifically Fireball and not Blaze. There are probably environments where Bolt would be better, but it would need to be a fast format that doesn't have many X/1s. ZZZ was bonkers fast but you probably could still get away with spending 4 mana to kill an opposing Surrakar Marauder and Plated Geopede. So I think limited formats where Bolt would be better are the outliers.
Re: Juri News
As far as Constructed goes, Fireball was probably better than Bolt in Alpha but probably hasn't been better than Bolt since like Mirage.

Re: Juri News
I used "poop from a butt" in an email to my wife to describe a bad thing, and now she uses that. I'm not sure if it's an original Juri-ism but there you go.
Re: Juri News
After a rigorous search, I have determined that the actual Juri-ism is "piss from an ass", so I was way off.

Fraxis still hasn't filled the narrative lead role for Civ 7.
If you want to play it with your pa, there's only one solution - https://boards.greenhouse.io/firaxis/jobs/4620451003

this position is probably for the marvel tactics game firaxis is contracted for or for XCOM 3, rather than for civ 7the_zoomies wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 10:01 pm Fraxis still hasn't filled the narrative lead role for Civ 7.

god i hope it's xcom 3
civ4's legacy is in the hands of Soren Johnson and not firaxis now anyhow
