It's good but it's not better than the other 4-drops, although there's a case for it being better than Tectonic at least.

The white cards own btw. Thalia's the worst one by a mile, which feels like a nice place for your colour to be

This deck was really satsifying to draft and to play!

Image

I first-picked Garruk and second-picked Seasoned Hallowblade. I then third-picked a second Seasoned Hallowblade over Basri's Acolyte, which I wasn't sure was correct, but which appears to have paid off handsomely with this sick aggro deck.

I think second Hallowblade over Acolyte is correct. Every time I've seen Hallowblade in play it's been fuckin' bonkers

Yeah in retrospect I think my problem was that I've heard a lot of people talk about how acolyte is good and have heard basically nothing about hallowblade and i let that kind of lull me into overrating acolyte a little. I'm real glad I ended up picking it at any rate

i think hallowblade over acolyte is correct that early. my experience with acolyte has been a little underwhelming (relative to hype)--it disrupts itself relatively easily if you dont get turn 4 double white or dont curve out on creatures. i think its a great card, its just one that tends to look a little better on paper than in practice i think.

hallowblade with a counter on it is really really strong, and the second hallowblade starts fighting for the same resource as the first.

i'd definately take (and have taken) first hallowblade over acolyte though

It's also common and hallowblade is uncommon, so you're more likely to see another acolyte later.

You can't expect to draw both of them, though. More likely, you'll have one a lot more often. And so much of the strength is in the threat of activation so they don't stack very poorly. I think an impact 4 drop is easier to find than an impact 2 drop, I would probably take the second Hallowblade.

I had two hallowblades on the board at once, pitched cards to both of them over several turns and felt very comfortable doing so.

Manaless 1-for-1s that don't set you back on the board any just feel really good, especially when you're pitching lands and dead cards.

your deck is pretty well set up for pushing through 4 toughness dudes even without the acolytes as well

i have been having a great time with this deck:

https://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=26264&d=399721&f=ST

its really nice if you like getting 7 wins in standard events, or imagining your opponent yelling "what a stupid card" or "i hate this fucking game" at their monitor.

well, it was more like 24+ hours (i dont post a deck without putting it through its paces for a while). it was great when everyone was running aggro and counterspelless control, but now theres a lot more control, and better tuned control to beat it. it may be a good deck to come back to when the meta shifts later.

i took your advice, khaos, and tried a traditional draft. it went well!

Image

6-1 in games with this. it felt very strong with pretty much every game, except two in the last round, being a blowout. the best build maybe doesnt have speaker in it, but i pulled it off turn 3 one game (and won quickly), and was going to pull it off turn 3 another game if my opponent didnt eliminate it turn 2.
